The Designer

Nidahas is the personal website of Gayaranga Prabhath Sirisena, a Designer from Colombo, Sri Lanka. I could be found fiddling with websites at Vesess, the design firm I co-founded.

I’m a web standards fanatic, and a former member of the WaSP International Liaison Group.

I’m a Free Software freak, which also means I worship RMS. I got to know him when I designed the gnuzilla logo.

And most importantly, I’m a Theravada Buddhist. I hope some day I’d be able to do that label justice.

The Site

The site’s current theme is based on one of my personal obsessions: traditional Sri Lankan art of the Kandyan era (16th - 18th century).

Ananda K. Coomaraswamy’s classic, Medieval Sinhalese Art, was used as a reference when creating the graphics for the site. If you are a designer interested in Sri Lankan art, that is one book you should definitely get your hands on.

More about Kandy, the current theme of the site, could be found here.
