Rasmus Lerdorf

Guest post by Mahangu Weerasinghe

Being in the same room as, let alone listening to Rasmus Lerdorf speak, is a surreal experience. PHP has been my favourite programming language for a couple of years now, and yesterday, I had the ultimate privilege of having PHP5 introduced to me by its lead developer. How about that?

I’m talking about FOSSSL, and the FOSS tutorials, to be exact. Over the next few days, we’ll hopefully get a chance to blog live from the conference. On top of that, expect some PHP5 related posts as well. I can’t wait to get started with the new OO and XML functions. Till then though, here is the obligatory celebrity photo, as proof that it actually happened. :)

Rasmus Lerdorf And I
Unfortunately, the flash seems to have bothered Rasmus’ eyes.

Tomorrow, Dulan and I head for day two of the FOSSSL conference, hoping to catch keynotes from David Axmark, Bruce Momjian and Sam Ruby, among others.
